GUIDED CLIMB OF MAFADI 3452m - FOUR DAYS IN THE CENTRAL DRAKENSBERG SOUTH AFRICA
Climb Mafadi 3452m the highest peak in South Africa on this dramatic four day, three night trek in the spectacular Central Drakensberg. The typical Drakensberg passes used to reach the escarpment are challenging but beautiful, with massive peaks and buttresses all around you.
The hike starts at Injasuthi Hutted Camp and climbs the daunting Judges pass up onto the Drakensberg escarpment where you’ll be greeted by views over the Lesotho highlands to the West and the dramatic cliffs of the Drakenberg escarpment to the East. The mountain scenery here is breathtaking
with incredible views of eNjasuthi Buttress, the Triplets and Redwall.
Hiking on the escarpment is a welcome change from the steep ascent of Judges Pass, the summit of Mafadi may well be your midday lunchtime highlight. After the viewing Lesotho and the distant Natal lowlands, you’ll head towards Leslies Pass, the descent route via Marble Bath’s which is a beautiful spot for swimming and relaxation along the way before returning to Injesuthi Hutted Camp.
