The splendid Drakensberg Amphitheatre is a colossal rock formation that defies imagination, on this guided Drakensberg amphitheatre hike, you’ll spend two nights camping on top of it and exploring the amphitheatre plateau. There are spectacular views of the mountains with their tremendous 1000 meter cliffs and clear rivers cascading over the escarpment into the verdant valleys at the base of this rugged range. Highlights on this guided trek are the exhilaration of climbing the Chain ladders, the splendid hike to the summit of Mont-Aux-Sources and fantastic views from the top of the Tugela falls. A scenic trail leads up onto The Mont-Aux-Sources-Plateau, you’ll climb the famous chain ladders to get there and then set up camp along the bank of the Elands River. While we prepare dinner, you can relax and enjoy the sunset over the beautiful Maluti Mountains.


Mont-Aux-Sources 3282m is the goal for the second day, a great hike to the highest point on the Northern Drakensberg Escarpment with ample reward, there are commanding views of the Amphitheatre and the Mont-Aux-Sources plateau resplendent with glistening streams. After lunch you’ll descend, to the second night's camp on the Amphitheatre escarpment with views of the Iconic Sentinel and Amphitheatre.


On the final day of hiking, GoTrekking guides you to the Famous Tugela Waterfalls with staggering views of the Amphitheatre, Tugela Valley and Devil's Tooth. Relax at the deep pools right on the edge of the precipice before taking the path that curves along the Tugela River towards its source, finally  you’ll descend past the imposing Sentinel Peak, returning to the Sentinel Carpark.
